Reinstall checklist

Clean reinstall steps for persistent permission issues.

Updated: Feb 1, 2026

When to reinstall

Reinstall if the app is installed on the wrong org, permissions are corrupted, or repos never appear.

Consider reinstalling after major org restructuring or repo transfers.

Before you reinstall

Remove the app installation from GitHub and wait a minute before reinstalling.

Keep a list of repos you want selected so you can re-enable them quickly.

Notify teammates if the app is critical to active release work.

Reinstall and approve

Start the install flow again from ReleaseMind or GitHub Marketplace.

Select the correct org, choose repository access, and complete SSO approval.

After reinstall

Resync repos in ReleaseMind to rebuild the cached list.

Generate a draft to confirm tags and PR context are available.

Review and introspect

Reinstalling works best when the root cause is understood.

  • What caused the original permission issue?
  • Is there a repeatable checklist your team should document?
  • Did the reinstall solve the root cause or just the symptom?
