Connect a repository

Make sure a repo is visible, tagged, and ready for drafts.

Updated: Feb 1, 2026

Add the repo

Open Repos to confirm the repository is visible under the GitHub App installation.

If it is missing, update the GitHub App settings to include it.

ReleaseMind reads tags, merged PRs, and release metadata to build drafts.

  • Confirm the repo shows under the installation in GitHub
  • Ensure Releases are enabled in the repo settings
  • Verify the default branch matches your release workflow

Verify access and signals

Check that the repo has tags that represent releases; drafts rely on tag boundaries.

Confirm PRs are merged into the default branch so ReleaseMind can map them.

If you use protected branches, ensure the ReleaseMind App has read access.

Confirm in Release Studio

Open Release Studio and select the repo from the picker.

If the repo does not appear, click Resync in Repos and wait for the list to refresh.

Generate a draft to validate tags and PR context.

If a repo stays hidden

Confirm the repo is not archived, transferred, or owned by a different org.

Remove the repo from the installation and add it back to trigger a clean sync.

Ask an org admin to approve SSO if required.

Review and introspect

Repository hygiene drives cleaner releases.

  • Are tags and PR titles consistent enough for clean drafts?
  • Does this repo represent a release boundary you want to track?
  • Should any repos be excluded to reduce noise?
