Release notes without docs are half a story. Users need the instructions right when the change ships.

A sync workflow keeps notes and docs aligned.

Define the dependency

If the release introduces a new workflow or setting, the docs must ship with it. Treat it as a blocking requirement.

Pair doc updates with PRs

Require documentation updates in the same PR as the change. If docs are separate, they get delayed.

Use a simple checklist

  • Docs link added to the release note.
  • Screenshots updated.
  • Support brief references doc link.

Assign doc ownership

A release without a doc owner tends to ship without docs. Assign one owner per release.
